On My Nightstand: "From Hollywood With Love" by Scott Meslow

This is the first post in a new series I'm starting called On My Nightstand, where I tell you what I'm currently reading and enjoying! I love to end the night in my "no phone zone". This means I can do anything I want without any screens in front of me for about 45 minutes before bed. I do a variety of things that I go more in depth about in my unwind with me post (Here is the link). The most common thing I end up reaching towards is reading a book. One, because I am a bookworm and have loved reading since I was a child. Two, it's very low effort and knocks me out for the night after a short amount of time. A win-win! Anyways, here is my current read and a few books on my ever-growing to be read list:

Current Read:

From Hollywood With Love: The Rise and Fall (And Rise Again) of the Romantic Comedy by Scott Meslow

I don't normally gravitate towards nonfiction when it comes to reading. This is mainly because when I read, I want to escape reality so I enjoy reading things that are fiction. However, I love movies and I love the rom-com genre of movies. So, while I was browsing the shelves at my public library, I came across this boldly colored book. The title was enough to captivate me.

This book, as the title suggests, goes over the rise and fall and rise again of the romantic comedy genre of cinema. I'm fully aware that rom-coms aren't really Oscar-worthy movies, but I love watching fun, unrealistic, cutesy, light-hearted movies. After all, movies are a form of escapism! Each chapter goes over the development and process of creating iconic movies like: When Harry Met Sally, Pretty Woman, Bridget Jones' Diary, etc.

It's just an overall interesting nonfiction read if you're a fan of romantic comedies and want to read about how these movies developed. Again, I don't normally gravitate towards nonfiction... ever. I prefer listening to audiobooks for nonfiction and physical books for fiction. The cover of this book, kinda pulled me into it as well!
